Floral Indigo – Peachskin
Hi Guys, here I am with another Tilly and the Buttons Indigo, this has to be my fourth or fifth now, I have made so many, I have lost count! I just love how simple the pattern is. It’s such an easy garment to wear – you can dress it up or dress it down – the options are endless.
I always wash and dry my fabric before I sew – to avoid any shrinking, that’s the last thing you want, sewing a beautiful dress, then it shrinking in the wash! Sewing with this floral peachskin was a dream – I thought it may have misbehaved, but it didn’t. It did slip a little bit when placing right sides together, but some glorious wonder clips stopped this.
The whole dress came together really quickly – the only time consuming bit of this make, was the gathering of the sleeves and the skirt. I decided not to go for the frills and flounces on the sleeves and waist as the fabric is super pretty and I didn’t think it needed the extra details. We know I love a bit of colour, so this fabric was perfect to add to my collection.
I did have to shorten the skirt quite a bit and do a small shoulder adjustment as I am quite narrow there – other than that, it fit really well. It’s such a versatile pattern and I really think it would suit any shape and any size. I was put off at first with it being a smock design, I thought it would be totally shapeless on me, but I absolutely love it. I added some waist ties to this version just to give it that little bit more detail.
If you are not sure about it – I would definitely give it a go – I was adamant it wouldn’t suit me – oh how wrong I was! I want one in every colour and every variation!
Until next time…..
