Art and Wellbeing – Part Two: Journaling
Hi again! We’re back with part two of this blog series – hope you all have coloured some mandalas in the past week! The topic we are going to discuss this time is journaling. I will be a bit biased because I am obsessed with journaling, but I’m sure by the end of this blog, you will be too! The best part about this is that journaling goes beyond just being creative and artistic – its the best way to organize yourself as well as your thoughts and ideas! And you can make it as aesthetic as you like, I personally feel anything pretty I make gives me lots of happiness and satisfaction!
While there are countless ideas online for journaling, I think in these times the best thing to start with would be a gratitude journal! This could either be a basic list with hand lettering, or be visuals in the form of drawings, pictures, stickers, magazine cutouts, and whatever else you can find! Doing this “might enable us to see that however bad our day has been, there has been a moment, albeit sometimes teeny, that we can draw on as positive.” (Blurt It Out, 2018) It is extremely important to uplift yourself at a time when everything seems to be drowning. Finding happiness in the little things in life is what makes it beautiful – you should definitely try it out!
My favourite page on Instagram has to be @pieceofmindjournal. It ticks all the boxes for perfect bullet journaling (aesthetics, content, planning, creativity – if you were curious to know a few!) and is always focused on the current trends! Here is a look at their insta feed – best place to look for inspiration!
There is no limit when you’re journaling, you can do anything and everything you want, to your hearts content. Something I often keep reminding myself is that even though aesthetics matter, don’t worry too much about it being perfect, but just focus on the process and how it helps you de-clutter your thoughts and relax for a bit.
